13e Arrt.

The thirteenth arrondissement feels like a different city to me. The vibes and the look of it don’t exactly resemble the rest of Paris. The buildings are a little older and not as nice. There are a lot of business firms that line the streets creating a very mature
feeling environment. We went on a company visit in this district to a book producing company during the marketing class. It could’ve been a little more interesting. It was pretty dry, even the professor was struggling to stay awake. It was a cool experience though and it did lead me to an amazing place, Itale Deux. It is a large shopping complex with all sorts of stores from clothing
to groceries. I wasted some time shopping around while waiting for my other friends to meet me and found some really cool jewelry in a small retail store. My friends met me and we spent some time looking at the Aux Enfants du XIIIe Arrt morts pour la France garden. There is a hotel right in-between the garden and the mall called Citadines which was priced at 260€ a night. It seems like a very nice hotel! There were some very nice cars pulling up with some very nicely dressed people getting out of them.
The coolest thing I found in this district was a detailed spray paint graffiti of Van Gogh with an explosion on the side of his head showcasing how he lost his ear.
This also showcases how this area is not very nice. The upside however, is that prices in the market are very cheap. You can buy milk for 1.02€, eggs for 2.73€, and steak for 26.30€/kg. One nice thing about this district is a lovely chocolate shop named Jeff de Bruges. It has a beautiful window display of macaroons and assorted chocolates. I was tempted, but proved myself strong when I walked away empty handed. I’m still proud of myself.
