We
first started touring this district the first night in Paris with our business scholar’s
crew. We took the metro to an unknown stop and started exploring! It wasn’t
long until we found the Eglise Saint-Elisabeth, one of the first of the many beauties
we would soon find in this wondrous city.
The first place we
deliberately went in search of the third district was to a small side street
behind the Palais Royal. There stands a beautiful statue in the center of a
round about where there is a solider riding a rearing horse. I had seen the
statue before, but this time it stood out more to me. The detail of the horse
engraved in the thick metallic stone is surreal and very life like. To make it
even better, it is tucked away in a round about street bombarded by buildings
on every side. That’s the beauty of Paris; you find works of art in every kink
and corner.
After roaming
around for a little while, Taylor and I stopped at Bubble C Tea for a yummy
taste of home. We found the Hotel Austin around the corner for a low of 160€ a
night. The third district is pretty basic when it comes to the buildings. They
are very close together and there isn’t much that differs one from the next. We
did find a little charm above one of the buildings however. I usually think graffiti
is disrespectful and stupid, but sometimes you find a real talented piece of
art that puts a smile on your face; in the third arrondissement we found a
little octopus.
We stopped at a
grocery store on the way back and found milk for a little expensive but
relatively average price of 1.46€, eggs for a bit expensive price of 3.95€ and
steak for 23.05€/kg.
