The ninth arrondissement is
fashionable and definitely my style. There are classic French restaurants and
shops lining the street with people packed in all of them. The vibe is very
fast pace but still energetic and positive. There is also a very heshy part of
the ninth district, which I explored with Alex early in the study abroad. We
made our way around the district looking for the perfect crepe. We found it
eventually, but not till after our adventures around the arrondissement. As we
wondered down the street we found a small pizza shop with big rectangular
assortments of pizza. Of course we had to try it so we ordered a couple
different kinds and took our time to enjoy them. And they were absolutely
amazing! Typing this now is difficult because my mouth is watering and I’d
rather be eating that pizza than on my flight back home to Utah! One shop that
caught our attention was the Bistrot Smiley. With the adorable sign smiling
bright and the happy servers below it, it brightened our day for sure.
The
ninth arrondissement is home to one of the most dangerous places in all of
Paris, The Galleries Lafayette. You can spend your life savings away, or spend
the afternoon on the beautiful open-air rooftop lounge. From here you can see
the exterior of the stunning Opéra. This is one of my absolute favorite places
in all of Paris. It looks smaller from the outside but when you enter, it is
magnificently grand, tall, and breathtakingly beautiful. Taylor, McKinley and I spent the afternoon
dancing in the hallway in front of the wall-sized mirrors. Just around the
corner is the Music Hall, which hosts many concerts and performances each year.
My next time around, I’d love to watch an Opera in the Opéra and a symphony in
the Music Hall. This area is a little expensive. We found milk for 1.43€, eggs
for 3.98€, and steak for 34.25€/kg.
