I’m
going to start this blog off with something sweet… really sweet! Amorino Gelato
is world famous for not only the most delicious frozen desert but also the most
beautiful! The only thing a girl would like getting more than a dozen roses is
a dozen Amorino Ice-cream roses! We waited till Sierras last day in Paris
before we indulged, and boy was it worth it.
The fourth
arrondissement has a lot to offer, even besides the ice-cream. One of my very
favorite monuments is in this district; The Notre Dame! The Notre Dame is my
favorite for a couple reasons. Firstly, it’s absolutely stunning. The detail in
the architecture is mind-blowing perfection. I can’t look at it without my jaw
dropping. It will never cease to amaze me how humans made these unbelievable
structures with their bare hands hundreds of years ago. The second reason I
love the Notre Dame, is because a gargoyle pooped on Mckinley. We were waiting
in line to go up the tower when something fell from the sky and landed right on
Mckinley's head! It cracked all over her and the remains were all over her and
the ground. It looked like a broken egg with a half born embryo of blood, yolk,
and shell. I’m not sure what she did to deserve it, but the Gargoyles were mad
for some reason, and they rained baby pigeon embryo down on her for it. I don’t
think I’ve ever laughed so hard in my life.
On
our way to the Notre Dame, we came out of the metro stop and found a stunning
fountain, the Saint Jacques Fontaine. We each took our turn throwing a coin
into the fountain over our shoulders and making wishes! (Maybe I wished for
Mckinley to get pooped on by a Gargoyle… but even I am not that creative. That
was sheerly the heavens smiling down on us for our amusement and a good story
for Kinley.)
One
of my very favorite stores is also in this district, The Vintage Clothing
Store. One of MANY, but it’s a diamond in the rough, just like all of the
clothes inside of it! The first time in there we found almost one hundred pairs
of old Birkenstocks in all shapes and sizes for all under 50€. Sierra bought
three pairs all for under 100€! The grocery stores around are similarly cheap,
we found milk for 1.38€, eggs for 3.45€ and steak for 21.90€/kg. We found the St. Merry Hotel for 170€ a
night, a decent price for a great location.
