The fifth
arrondissement was one of the coolest in my opinion! It started off really well
still in the metro station! On the ceiling of the Cluny La-Sorbonne metro
station, there is a mural of glass pieces lining the ceiling with words
surrounding them. It looks almost like scales of a mermaid because of the deep
purples and blues. It instantly put me in a good mood and set me up for an even
better day. We went to the Pantheon, which was unbelievable! I still can’t
decide if the outside or the inside is more beautiful. The way the light fills
the room makes you feel like your problems have melted away and everything will
be okay.
After the Pantheon we headed toward the 6th district. On
the way we found the Hotel de Suez which was priced at a very cheap 109€ a
night. There was a grocery store very close with prices of milk for 1.45€, eggs
for 3.98€ and steak for 34€/kg. The steak was very expensive! It must be made
from only the prettiest of cows.
When
you think of Paris, you think of basic things like the Eiffel Tower and Notre
Dame. When it comes to clothes in Paris, I always think of scarves! We found a
super cool shop called Diwali that sold scarves of all colors and fabrics. It had
Indian influence and I loved all of them. They also had some awesome jewelry!
A few weeks ago on
our way to the Notre Dame, we came out of the metro stop and found a stunning
fountain, the Fontaine Saint-Michel. We each took our turn throwing a coin into
the fountain over our shoulders and making wishes! (Maybe I wished for Mckinley
to get pooped on by a Gargoyle… but even I am not that creative. That was
sheerly the heavens smiling down on us for our amusement and a good story for
Kinley.)
